On Nursery Bay the young are raised,
With tenderness and care. 
Side by side, 
They slip and slide,
It's a clumsy old affair!
 
But slowly and surely they find their feet, 
Their flippers, feathers and wings.
They dive the sea and ride the sky,
Parents watch as they go by,
Each so proud of their offsprings!
 
Lovely chunk of driftwood, with tactile smooth edges from a life at sea! Now cleaned, sealed and housing a selection of  little handmade clay birds and seals. 
 
The birds include two adult puffins and one puffling, plus two adult guillemot and one jumpling (baby guillemot) In addition there are two grey seals, one adult and one pup. Finished with miniature flora and forna. 
 
Whilst this might be utterly exciting to children it sadly is not a toy and is intended solely as a decorative ornament for adults! (who lets be honest, will be as excited as a child to own such a thing of beauty!!).....just to add, this item is not for eating!

This item is a complete one of a kind, that can never be replicated because the design is fully dictated by the wood, which is a wholly natural product, chiselled by a life at sea. This, I find, adds a beautiful element to every piece, as each has had a life prior to it becoming part of my work, and their form, shaped by their journey enhances each creation.
 
Just to add, we are not able to identify the type of wood further than to say it is drift wood found on a UK beach.
